CHESAPEAKE BAY WATERSHED PLAN
GreenVest, an action-oriented entity, has launched a comprehensive initiative to facilitate and accelerate water quality improvements within the Chesapeake Bay Watershed (CBW). The GreenVest CBW Action Plan focuses on action to implement decades of CBW research and is aimed at achieving both environmental and economic benefits.

GreenVest’s CBW Action Plan is designed to advance performance-based nutrient reduction practices to achieve basin wide water quality goals, chiefly through the restoration of ecosystem services and the permanent protection of restored environmental amenities.

Proven initiatives that will be targeted under the plan include practices designed to reduce agricultural runoff, reduced storm water runoff and potentially zero net discharge of wastewater into tidal waters.

The multifaceted CBW Action Plan includes a variety of tactics including restoration/mitigation projects, financial incentives, raising awareness, public outreach and education. We will be discussing the CBW Action Plan in more detail in future newsletters. In the meantime, learn more online.
