We’re thrilled that Brett Berkley, GreenVest’s Senior Vice President, was recently featured in Baltimore Magazine in an article discussing the important linkage between ecosystem health and community resilience. As the implementing resiliency partner of South Baltimore Gateway Partnership (SBGP), GreenVest is proud to lead the Middle Branch Resiliency Initiative (MBRI)—part of the broader Reimagine Middle Branch Master Plan—and shine the spotlight on this crucial undertaking. This nature-based resiliency project will help to revitalize 11 miles of Baltimore’s forgotten waterfront along the Middle Branch of the Patapsco River for the benefit of underserved communities of color.

The Middle Branch Resiliency Initiative is an in-progress, 35-acre project protecting critical infrastructure along the shoreline, rehabilitating the area and providing improved water quality, flood attenuation, aquatic species habitat, and more. The Middle Branch of the Patapsco has a long history of intensive industrial use; this project is a vital step in restoring this ecosystem, reconnecting South Baltimore citizens to their waterfront, and ensuring it continues to be healthy for generations to come.

Thank you to Baltimore Magazine for spotlighting GreenVest’s hard work, Brett’s leadership, and the MBRI’s importance to the communities in South Baltimore. Read the entire article here.
