Project Summary: A prospectus for the Atlantic Mitigation Bank is currently under review by federal and state regulatory agencies. Upon approval, GreenVest anticipates that the Atlantic Coastal Mitigation Bank will offer tidal wetland credits to offset State/Federal mitigation requirements, as well as enforcement related impacts along the entire New Jersey Atlantic Coastline—from Cape May up to the Manasquan Inlet (tidal portions of WMAs 12, 13, 14, and 16). In addition, we anticipate that the Atlantic Coastal Bank will also offer credits for freshwater wetland and riparian zone impacts in the Great Egg Harbor Watershed.
The Atlantic Coastal Mitigation Bank is a 56.84 acre site located in the City of Pleasantville, Atlantic County, New Jersey. The restoration area is approximately a third of a mile from Absecon Bay and four miles northwest of Atlantic City. The bank proposes to restore, preserve, and maintain inter-tidal wetlands and maritime upland forest buffer zone habitat that has been hydrologically impaired by extensive ditching and draining. This area is tributary to both Lakes Bay (Egg Harbor) and Absecon Bay and is thus connected to Absecon State Wildlife Management Area. The proposed restoration efforts will provide compensation for impacts to tidal and freshwater wetland, riparian buffer, and critical wildlife habitat.
