Amit Mahadevia, P.E.
Amit has 12 years of experience as a Civil Engineer. He has consulted for the State Highway Administration (SHA), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), New York City (NYC), the Transportation Research Board (TRB), and local governments. Amit has a strong background in project management, construction inspection, hydrology & hydraulics, flood & wind mitigation, and disaster recovery.
Prior to Joining GreenVest, Amit served as a consultant Civil Engineer for NYC’s Department of Transportation (DOT). He managed and monitored multiple reconstruction projects as a result of Hurricane Sandy damage. Calculating material quantities, comparing actual work to work completed, verifying cost estimates, reviewing plans and specifications, coordinating with DOT’s project engineers, checking inspector’s daily reports, logs and tickets, and attending DOT department meetings were typical tasks preformed. Amit also reviewed DOTs federally funded projects for grant requirement compliance – ultimately leading to grant reimbursement to NYC.
Prior to Hurricane Sandy, Amit was a consultant Civil Engineer to FEMA headquarters in Washington, DC. Amit collaborated with industry experts to perform post-disaster forensic engineering investigations on damaged structures, develop feasibility studies, review grants, author design and construction guidance documents, and lobby for building and construction codes.
Amit received a B.Sc. in Physical Sciences from the University of Maryland in 2005, a M.Eng. in Civil Engineering from the University of Maryland in 2007, and a M.Sc. in Sustainability Management from Columbia University in 2015. He is also a registered Professional Engineer in Maryland and Texas. Amit is based in our Maryland office.
