At GreenVest, we champion coupling nature-based solutions with cutting-edge science to restore functionality to impaired systems in vulnerable communities. By managing stormwater, mitigating flood risk and storm damage, and uplifting water and habitat quality, GreenVest improves resiliency within local ecosystems. Since many of our projects positively impact the Chesapeake Bay – whether restoring a stream tributary, improving stormwater management, or implementing another nature-based solution – it’s only fitting that we promote and highlight Chesapeake Bay Awareness Week.

From June 3 to 11, Chesapeake Bay Awareness Week celebrates the “cultures, history, and natural beauty of the nation’s largest estuary.” During the week, there are online and in-person events to educate about the importance of the Chesapeake Bay and to encourage you to take part in volunteer opportunities to help with Bay health.

Fittingly, it’s also World Environment Day on June 5. Now in its 40th year, World Environment Day, led by the United Nations Environment Programme, is now the world’s largest “platform for environmental outreach.” This year’s focus is how we can better address global plastic pollution. We at GreenVest challenge you to limit your single-use plastic as much as you can; every bit helps!

With both events coinciding, GreenVest celebrates our environment, including our local Chesapeake Bay and its connected waterways. The power to keep our water clean and protected is in us all!
