  • GIS Analyst

    GreenVest is an entrepreneurial, land-based, resilience and restoration practitioner who principally develops nature-based solutions focused primarily on managing stormwater and improving aquatic ecosystem function.     GreenVest seeks a full-time GIS Analyst to work in the challenging and rewarding field of ecosystem restoration. The successful candidate could be based out of GreenVest’s Bowie or Baltimore, Maryland office.  This is both a field and office-based position supporting the identification and initial design of GreenVest’s restoration and nature-based resilience sites.

    GreenVest seeks an energetic and self-motivated candidate with geospatial analysis and mapping experience in the field of environmental design/planning, particularly in the area of ecosystem restoration. The position will primarily entail conducting site searches and developing conceptual restoration designs and other GIS figures needed to support real-estate acquisition, advancing business development opportunities, and advancing GV projects and programs.  This position will also include managing the development of GIS and/or CAD based work products; organizing and maintaining digital files; maintaining GV’s inhouse GIS database; inventorying, managing, and updating related hardware and software; managing GIS and/or CAD production efforts by other GV personnel and interfacing with other GV personnel and departments including operations, business development, land acquisition and legal.

    Minimum Skills & Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in Water Resources, Environmental Science, Ecology, Geography, Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, or related field.
    • Experience using MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat (or Bluebeam).
    • Experience configuring and uploading data into field-collection instruments, like handheld GPS and Total Station units, and downloading and post-processing the collected datasets.
    • Proven ability to organize, analyze, and process geospatial data and produce accurate and visually appealing cartographic output.
    • Familiarity with Mid-Atlantic political and physical geography, especially in Maryland but ideally Northern Virginia, Southeastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Southeastern New York.
    • Experience using AutoDesk Civil 3D (particularly Map 3D) with the ability to move data fluidly to and from ArcGIS.
    • Experience in field data collection and sampling techniques including ecological inventories, monitoring well and stream gauge installation, automated data logger operation/installation, GPS based sampling, and data collection and reduction.
    • Experience developing web-based maps.
    • Experience using model-builder to develop repeatable processes.

    Desired Skills & Experience
    • Master’s Degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Sciences, or related field.
    • Experience in or familiarity with ecological and/or ecosystem restoration field data collection and sampling techniques including ecological inventories, monitoring well and stream gauge installation, automated data logger operation/installation, GPS based sampling, and data collection and reduction.
    • Understanding of ecological systems, principles, and functions is strongly encouraged.
    • Understanding of land use as it relates to ecosystem restoration.
    • Experience in restoration ecology, fluvial geomorphology, stormwater management, coastal systems, stream and/or aquatic ecology including stream/wetland functional assessment.
    • Working knowledge of Python.
    • Experience delineating watersheds or any other hydrologic or hydraulic modeling skills.
      • Practical experience in conducting annual monitoring of stream and/or wetland restoration projects including data collection, data reduction, and report preparation.
    • Knowledge of local, state, federal regulations related to ecosystem restoration, Section 404 based mitigation, stormwater management and/or TMDL/MS4 compliance (Maryland or Chesapeake Bay State experience strongly preferred).
    • Knowledge of basic principles and approach to development of green infrastructure, nature-based solutions, flood risk management and/or stormwater best management practices (BMP) or projects.
    • Ability to work in physically challenging outdoor settings.
    • Effective communication, organization, and technical writing skills with high standards of quality.

  • Ecosystem Restoration Specialist – New Jersey

    GreenVest seeks a full-time Ecosystem Restoration Specialist to work in the challenging and rewarding field of ecosystem restoration. The successful candidate would be primarily based out of GreenVest’s Tranquility, New Jersey office, although a large percentage of their time will be spent on GreenVest’s restoration sites. While we are a for-profit company, our goal is to restore and conserve the environment not only to improve habitat and water quality but quality of life.

The qualified candidate must display the ability to work in physically challenging outdoor settings, as their primary role will be supporting GreenVest’s maintenance and monitoring program and supervising construction of restoration and stormwater management projects.

  • Contracts Administrator

    GreenVest seeks a full-time Contracts Administrator to be based out of GreenVest’s Bowie, MD office. GreenVest is an entrepreneurial, land-based, resilience and restoration practitioner focused on developing ecological assets.     The Contracts Administrator will be part of GreenVest’s in-house legal team and will report to and work closely with GreenVest’s General Counsel to manage the company’s contract compliance operation.

    Duties
    • Perform all duties of contract management, including correspondence, documentation, resolving issues arising during performance, certification, financial reporting, and other report delivery for major contracts.
    • Create and maintain a contracts database to assist in tracking deadlines and other contract compliance requirements.
    • Manage and maintain contract files; administer supplier files, certificates of insurance, amendments, letters and other contractual documents.
    • Work with other members of the legal team to negotiate contract terms from proposal to project close-out in accordance with relevant regulations.
    • Coordinate approval of contracts, and subcontracts with appropriate management staff.
    • Provide advice on and interpretation of contract requirements to in-house counsel.
    • Assist project managers with development of price proposals, QA/QC plans, scheduling details, coordination of requirements and cost proposal risk assessment, extra work orders, budget transfer and budget close-outs.
    • Analyze solicitation terms and conditions and provide alternatives as necessary to mitigate risk.
    • Generate reports on contract and subcontract activity as required.
    • Participate in special projects as required.

    Strong organizational skills are required.  Prior experience in a corporate setting is preferable. Attention to detail and ability to prioritize and manage numerous tasks are crucial.
