The Henson Creek Stream and Wetland Mitigation Project (HSWMP) is a compensatory mitigation project designed to improve floodplain wetland functions throughout the project area, where forested floodplain wetlands were likely present historically. Additionally, the project will realign an unnamed, intermittent tributary to Henson Creek to provide functional uplift for hydraulic and geomorphic parameters by removing a culvert, excavating to create a bankfull floodplain, and introducing woody material and enhancing sand and gravel substrate to improve aquatic habitat. The project is designed to re-establish the connection between groundwater and restored stream and wetland surface elevations, increase the time of concentration of water within wetlands, integrate stream and wetland hydrology, and re-establish a diverse, native plant community. The site will be protected in perpetuity by a Conservation Easement.
Joint Permit Application (JPA) submitted January 7, 2026.
