  • Watershed Name: Potomac
  • Client Type: Government Agencies

The USDA Beltsville Agricultural Research Center (BARC) Stream and Wetland Restoration Project is comprised of 3 adjacent projects in coordination with the MDOT State Highway Association, Prince George’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation, and the Chesapeake Bay Trust-Maryland Department of the Environment Nontidal Wetland Grant Program. The restoration was completed on a former Spray Irrigation Field, which was used to dispose of treated sanitary and wastewater and was involved in agricultural production. GV restored 18 acres of headwater wetland habitat, 4.6 acres of upland habitat, and over 4,600 linear feet of stream habitat, leading to measurable water quality and habitat improvements in the Anacostia Watershed.
