One of 4 related projects for the MDOT SHA – Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration, the Bacon Ridge Branch (Elks Camp Barrett) Stream Restoration Project in the South River Watershed was designed, approved, and constructed to assist MDOT SHA with their commitment to meet the requirements of the Chesapeake Bay TMDL through compliance with the requirements established in Maryland’s WIP. The Project includes the restoration of 17,970 linear feet of stream and associated riparian buffer which has been perpetually preserved within a 28.174-acre easement. The Restoration Site is located on private property in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Construction of the Project included grading, installation of in-stream and floodplain structures, tributary realignment and stabilization, and the installation of native plants throughout the easement area.
